Barring events like getting married and having my kids and all the milestones that go along with raising a family, I’d have to say that getting to attend Wanderlust California for the past several days was by far one of the coolest experiences of my life.
I’m about to board a plane and head back to the east coast and muscles I didn’t even know I had are aching from four days of yoga, hiking, and everything else I’ve done. I’m still on a peaceful high from Wanderlust, albeit a tired one.
I’ll have lots of details to share about my trip in later posts, but for right now, I wanted to tell you about the fab job Toyota did with their tent at Wanderlust. And I’m totally not saying that just because I was able to go on this trip as part of #ToyotaWomen: everywhere I went at the festival, people were talking about the Toyota Retreat.
Upon entering the Toyota Retreat tent, guests were asked to fill out a sweepstakes form and then received a Toyota stamp on their hands, which allowed you access to all of the activities inside. Every activity very much fit in with the yogi vibe of the Wanderlust Festival, like the Tranquil Tea area where you could sip on various organic teas and relax. And really, in the mornings, you needed something for the chill in the air(a surprise to this eastern Carolina girl).
The next area was a Wellness Mix Station: inside the trunk of a Highlander, there were various ingredients for a snack mix. You were able to pick and choose which you wanted and take away your own individual snack. I wanted it all. I like to snack, y’all.
There were plenty of crafts to make in the DIY Inspiration Lounge. The one I really loved was the Natural Yoga Mat Cleaner. Even after just my first class at Wanderlust, my mat was filthy! I guess that’s what happens when you are doing yoga outside! To make at home: 4 drops tea tree oil, 4 drops essential oil(I chose Lemon), 2 drops eucalyptus oil, 3/4 oz witch hazel or vinegar, and 2 1/2 oz water, combined in a spray bottle.
You could also make an encouragement board/frame, stone photo display, and a glass marble magnet set. All keeping in that natural and peace-loving yogi vibe.
Next up was a hair braiding station. It’s very much come-as-you-are at Wanderlust(though of course yoga pants were the style of the weekend), but it’s much easier to do yoga when you have your hair out of the way and braids are the thing right now. Since I knew they were going to be doing this, I was super-lazy with my hair and showed up with it washed but that was it- I put my hair in their hands.
There was also a Silk Screening station where you could choose the colors you wanted for your bag and watch your bag being made right there with a design that is exclusive for this Wanderlust event.
There were plenty of props for the Photo Booth inside a Toyota Camry Hybrid, where Danylle from The Cubicle Chick and I might have laughed ourselves silly.
And finally, because Toyota is constantly finding ways to give back, they were working with Off the Mat to support local charities. Guests were asked to finish an “I will…” statement and tweet it out with the #ToyotaGiving hashtag: every RT raised $2 for a local charity. Thanks to y’all who RT’ed!
Time for me to head back to the east coast! I can’t wait to tell you more about my trip! A huge thanks to Toyota and Clever Girls for this experience!

What a wonderful event! I love your hair in a braid!
It was so much fun! And I loved the braid, too. Out of my way, but much nicer than my usual messy bun.
How wonderful! You are such an inspiration to bloggers! You are really doing it up big! You go girl!
Thanks, girl! xo
Loos like you had so much fun. I love the crafts and DIY products 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
They really had such great things in their tent!
Looks like you had a great time. The conference looks amazing. Can’t wait to hear more about it.
So very much to say about it! It was a blast!
Now that looks like an amazing event!! I’m glad that you were able to get away and enjoy the weekend!
It was such an amazing experience. Now I’m tired and trying to adjust to reality!
I wanted to go before you posted this and now I really want to go to something like this! Looks like it was a great time. I LOVE the braid. I want someone to do that to mine. 🙂
Oh, definitely go. It was INCREDIBLE! I’ll be posting a little more about it later in the week and then do a picture post probably next week, when I can sort through everything!
That looks like so much fun! Your braid is awesome…the one thing I miss about having longer hair is being able to braid it.
Not that I can really do those braids myself!
You have the greatest hair.
These ideas are great. I started out jealous, and realized all these could be done economically for my daughters’ friends to have a day party this fall.
YAY , Toyota. It looks like a great time.
Thanks so much!
All the Toyota stuff probably could be easily duplicated!
It sounds like an amazing event and experience. I am glad that you got a chance to get away a bit and relax. I do LOVE the braid! I wish I had long hair or that my hair wasn’t stick straight and therefore wouldn’t fall out of a braid within 10 minutes 🙂
I’m going to have to see if I can duplicate any of the braids!
That looks like a lot of fun!
It really was!
Jealous 🙂
I’m glad it was such a great time.
I love your hair in the braid.
Thank you! I want to wear it like that all the time now.
Awesome! Love the braid!
Thanks, Steph!
I love, love the braid. Middle wants me to try and duplicate it for her… wish me luck!!! I probably would have sipped tea for hours… love me some tea! 🙂
Good luck!
I love tea, too. I’m not a coffee drinker at all.
I loved seeing all of your photos on Instagram. I wish I could’ve gone on this with you! It looked like just what I need too and my how I love a good braid!!
So happy you got the time away and were able to relax. Oh and thanks for sharing the mat cleaner…that is awesome!!
Wish you could have been there! It was an amazing experience!
Awww, I’m so glad that you had a blast! I was so excited to hear that you were one of the lucky women picked to go! 🙂
Thanks so much, Kristi! I feel so lucky that I was one of the ones who got to go. I really want to go again next year- it was really that good.
Glad you had such a great time! That Toyota booth does look awesome. Where in California were you? And yep totally a blonde Katniss
Squaw Valley/North Lake Tahoe area is where the festival was.
That looks like so much fun!! I’m so glad you were able to go and relax and “slow down”.
Also, I love your hair braided.
Thanks, Jen. It was so fun. And I’m trying to duplicate the braid!
—-Love those braids. Very stylish! X
