Taking Yoga Pants to Yoga

My five year old can do downward facing dog so much better than I can. I’ve accepted it. And haven’t let it stop me from going to yoga.

marspost1shell3

Strange as it may seem, all my yoga pants have actually been to yoga. Actually, I started going to yoga before I even owned a pair of yoga pants or had any idea what they were(obviously pre-kids, a million years ago).

If you’ve never tried yoga, I shared six tips to keep in mind for your first yoga class over on the Mars Healthy Living blog. I’d love for you to head over and check them out: Take Your Yoga Pants to Yoga

Have you tried yoga?

This reminds me of BlogHer. 🙂 I need to get myself back into my yoga class. I have “go to a yoga retreat” as something on my bucket list and in the meantime, my yoga pants go EVERYWHERE. 🙂

I really want to go to another yoga retreat. My first was so incredible. Thinking maybe for my 40th, though I’d love to go before.

I’m wearing my yoga pants today, too! But Saturday and Sunday I did 3.1 and 2.8 miles respectively. Today I rest!

That’s awesome! My oldest runs. I just time him!

I think yoga might be the one thing I haven’t tried yet.  I want to, but I already have memberships at 2 gyms and I pay for martial arts, so I don’t want to take on a 4th thing to have to pay for right now.

      April 15, 2014 at 6:18 pm

I understand! Right now, I do most of my workouts at home on the xbox. But I take yoga at a studio in town.

You’d be surprise that I have never done yoga but I would like to. I know it’s great for you and relaxing.

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:19 pm

It is relaxing. It can be a great workout, too.

I absolutely love Yoga! I don’t get to practice as often as I’d like to 🙁

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:19 pm

I don’t, either. Usually just about once a week right now because I’ve been adding more cardio. But I love when I do get to practice.

I own yoga pants, yet I’ve never been to yoga. This is a great post. It’s important to try and incorporate some healthy habits into our lives – Tracey @ Just a Trace

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:20 pm

When I was doing yoga regularly(as opposed to now which is once a week), I was in the best shape of my life. It didn’t seem like it could do that, but it did!

I have never done yoga. Maybe time to start

    • Shell says

I have tried yoga and I loved it.  It just relaxes me.  As you focus on the yoga…everything else just melts away.

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:21 pm

That’s what I love about yoga. I need that time to clear my head.

I’ve never tried yoga. I have a few pilates workouts (on dvd) that I enjoy from time to time, but just never tried yoga.

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:22 pm

I’ve only tried pilates a few times. My core is so weak, I was awful at it!

  11. Melissa says

    April 14, 2014 at 9:44 pm

I’ve only ever done yoga at home with a video. My Kindergartner takes yoga at school!

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:22 pm

That’s so neat that your kindergartener does it! There’s a lot of benefits to kids doing yoga.

Yes, I have tried and love yoga, but I always opt for interval training or running because my time to workout is so limited. I really need to get back into yoga though; it truly is relaxing for the soul.

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:24 pm

I’ve been doing more cardio lately, too. But I still get in one yoga session a week.

  16. April @ My Real Food Family says

    April 15, 2014 at 7:01 am

I’ve taken yoga on and off for a while. I like it but struggle with the slower pace of it. I try to stick with it though because I know I need the stretching and relaxing benefits from it.

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:24 pm

Have you tried a power class? There are some quicker moving classes out there.

That’s awesome that you’re on the Mars Healthy Living blog! I have tried yoga from the comfort of my home, but I’d love to try a class. I have a friend that teaches AERIAL YOGA! How cool is that?!

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:25 pm

Thanks! That would be awesome to try aerial yoga! I’ve never done that. I did do slackline yoga once, which is on a rope. It was a challenge just to get up and walk across the line!

  18. Jenni E. says

    April 15, 2014 at 8:52 am

I always thought that Yoga was so calming and all of that. Yoga is a WORKOUT! I sweat more when I do Yoga then when I do cardio!!! haha! I do love me some comfy Yoga pants though.

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:26 pm

For sure! It’s all in what kind of class you take. When I was taking class 5x a week, I got into amazing shape. Lately, I just do one class a week and the rest cardio.

I do yoga but at home by myself. I don’t actually wear yoga pants though, I like to work out in shorts

    • Shell says

      April 15, 2014 at 6:29 pm

I don’t mind wearing shorts if I’m practicing at home. In a studio where there’s someone behind me, I need pants(or at least capris) for all that bending.

  25. Kenda Smith says

    April 15, 2014 at 8:16 pm

I run and work out at the gym, but I bet finding some time for yoga would really increase my health. It sounds like a great way to cool off OR warm up before I run.

  26. Erica says

My friend posted on Facebook today, “Look, I’m wearing yoga pants today. In public.” Made me giggle- but she’s a yoga instructor so I think she gets to anyway!

If yoga taught me anything it’s that I’m nowhere near as flexible or limber as I need to be. I feel silly every time I try lol.
