Soccer Mom Must-Haves

This post is sponsored by Snyder’s-Lance.

I gave her the side-eye.

That mom pulling a wagon full of stuff across the soccer field.

Usually, I didn’t even bring a sidelines chair. I just stood or sat on the ground, maybe giving in to bringing along a chair if we were at a soccer tournament for the whole weekend. But, that was all I’d concede to. I couldn’t imagine what anyone would need that would require a wagon.

Fast forward ten plus years, now that I’m a veteran soccer mom and not just the young wife of a soccer coach, and that wagon is mine.

Your kids play an away game on a field that has a serious mosquito infestation just once and you’ll never go to another game without bug spray.

You quickly learn that even a chilly day out on the field can give you sunburn if you don’t bring sunscreen. You might even decide you need a giant umbrella for your family to sit under.

And of course you need chairs because sitting on the ground doesn’t sound remotely comfortable and will probably cause some complaints from your kids who are watching their sibling play. We had to improvise a little last weekend when we brought more people than chairs.

Other things I won’t go to the field without: baby wipes (for hands or for the questionable restrooms you sometimes encounter at the fields), portable phone chargers since we’re often out there all day, and a first aid kit (even though fields have one somewhere -it’s easier not to have to go searching for one if it’s needed).

Plus, we keep a change of clothes for everyone in the car. Usually, this is an outfit that isn’t anyone’s favorite, so we can just keep it stored there all season long. But, after getting soaked to the bone at a game once and everyone riding home shivering and pantsless for over an hour, we learned our lesson.

It might seem like a lot to take, but it really does make our days out on the soccer field much more enjoyable. Plus, we keep most of these items in the back of my car for the duration of the season, so we aren’t having to pack much on game day.

What we do have to add to our sidelines supplies are snacks and drinks. Because it’s usually hot and we all drink a lot, we bring lots of water and a few sports drinks. For snacks, I want something that every member of my family will like. The new variety snack packs from the Snyder’s-Lance family of brands is perfect since each pack features options both kids and adults will love.

It’s so convenient to grab a variety pack and go. The small batch kettle variety has individual bags of Kettle Backyard Barbeque chips, Kettle Jalapeno chips(my favorites), Cape Cod Sea Salt chips, and Cape Cod Original chips. The Premium Variety has Cape Cod Original chips, Kettle Backyard Barbeque chips, Snyder’s Honey Mustard and Onion Pretzel Pieces, and Late July Nacho Chipotle Chips. There’s a Non-GMO Verified variety pack and a Gluten-free variety pack available as well. All of the Snyder’s-Lance variety snack packs are made with great tasting, better-for-you ingredients (the first healthier variety pack option). You can see the details on these other packs at the Snyder’s-Lance Snack Shoppe.

Single-serve sizes allow portion control and are a convenient on-the-go snack. You can take out what you need, though I like to toss the whole snack pack in my soccer wagon, along with the rest of our sidelines supplies.

You can find the snack packs in most grocery stores like Wal-Mart and Kroger.
