We do something fun together as a family and what do we do? Share it to instagram and facebook, of course!
We share because we have family and friends all over the country who otherwise wouldn’t get to see what we’re up to. We share because it’s a great way to document for ourselves what we’ve done, a virtual timeline of our family’s awesome moments.
As a family, we talk about how we #ShareAwesome but why we might not share all moments to social media. We shared the above pic during Red Ribbon Week, but we didn’t share our “Red Day” pic because the boys’ red shirts had their school logo written in big, bold letters across the front. While our school has excellent security measures in place, with requiring pick-up cards and passwords in order to get the kids from school, I’m still not comfortable with having that info “out there.”
School name is one of those things I’ve talked to my kids about not sharing online, along with their full names, phone numbers, and addresses. Because social networks are such a big part of life these days and my boys are already spending time online for their school work, we’ve had to have many conversations about what is okay online and what is not.
National PTA has partnered with LifeLock to share awesome ways families can create an open, evolving conversation about positive, safe decisions when using digital tools. It’s all part of having a happy, healthy lifestyle.
The #ShareAwesome campaign seeks to build an understanding among parents and students that no matter the device, the app or the networking site – the skills we need to be safe and positive online are similar to what you need offline.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
Our family is always up to something fun and of course we share it everywhere all over social media when we do!
I have seen that hashtag all over the place, now I know why. This is amazing and so totally something I want to be a part of. Will look into it asap! You always share awesome 😉
We’ve done a few color runs and they are so much fun. Lifelock is an awesome product too. We have it and its actually saved hubs a giant headache a few times.
I love that you share with us all! I love for my friends to keep up with us via the blog.
We share a lot of our family fun online! For a while, we had to be extra careful because we only had legal guardianship of our kids and we hadn’t adopted them yet. We regularly tell our kids to be careful what they share!
We have family all over. Sharing is a great way to keep in touch.
This is such a fun contest and will give some great ideas on how to be safe and protect yourself. Thanks for the info on it!
I have always been interested in doing a color run. It looks like it would be so much fun.
It was- even for someone like me who doesn’t run much. The afterparty at the finish line was the best!
What a great idea. The skills we need online are the same skills we need offline.

What an awesome contest! I don’t use social media for personal uses usually, but my daughter is all over it. I am going to have her enter the contest. She could use some scholarship money, for sure!
