#ShareAwesome Moments

We do something fun together as a family and what do we do? Share it to instagram and facebook, of course!

Color Vibe 5K

We share because we have family and friends all over the country who otherwise wouldn’t get to see what we’re up to. We share because it’s a great way to document for ourselves what we’ve done, a virtual timeline of our family’s awesome moments.

Don’t Let Drugs “Tie” You Down Day during Red Ribbon Week

As a family, we talk about how we #ShareAwesome but why we might not share all moments to social media. We shared the above pic during Red Ribbon Week, but we didn’t share our “Red Day” pic because the boys’ red shirts had their school logo written in big, bold letters across the front. While our school has excellent security measures in place, with requiring pick-up cards and passwords in order to get the kids from school, I’m still not comfortable with having that info “out there.”

School name is one of those things I’ve talked to my kids about not sharing online, along with their full names, phone numbers, and addresses. Because social networks are such a big part of life these days and my boys are already spending time online for their school work, we’ve had to have many conversations about what is okay online and what is not.

National PTA has partnered with LifeLock to share awesome ways families can create an open, evolving conversation about positive, safe decisions when using digital tools. It’s all part of having a happy, healthy lifestyle.

The #ShareAwesome campaign seeks to build an understanding among parents and students that no matter the device, the app or the networking site – the skills we need to be safe and positive online are similar to what you need offline.

The #ShareAwesome Contest

The #ShareAwesome contest invites social media users to share a smart and safe decision, uplifting accomplishment, or positive action for the good of others using hashtag #ShareAwesome. Students who enter a photo between September 15 – November 30, 2014 will be eligible to win fantastic prizes, including tablets and a $2,500 scholarship! Visit ShareAwesomeNow.org to learn more.

Snap a photo of an awesome moment in your day and share it on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the #ShareAwesome hashtag!

What will you share for #ShareAwesome?

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

We share a lot of our family fun online! For a while, we had to be extra careful because we only had legal guardianship of our kids and we hadn’t adopted them yet. We regularly tell our kids to be careful what they share!
