Finally, finally, FINALLY it’s starting to feel like spring here in eastern North Carolina.
I’m ready to get outside and enjoy the fresh air with my kids.
While I’m outside, I have some outdoor projects I’d love to tackle, too.
On my to-do list for the past several years(I know, I know, I need to stop procrastinating) has been a raised garden bed. My best friend had one in her yard and told me how easy it was, but I was doubtful. So instead, I simply made sad eyes at all her gorgeous fresh vegetables until she took pity on me and sent me home with some. But this year, I want to actually make one and have fresh veggies of my own. That other people can covet.
Another project I want to tackle is fixing up this area of my yard:
Once upon a time, there was a bench swing there and it looked nice and peaceful. Thanks to a hurricane, that swing is no more. And after a few years of wear and tear, the paint needs some work as does the trim that is falling down. I’d love to figure out how to hang the sitting hammock that I have there and paint this structure, fix up the trim, and maybe plant some flowers around it. Make it my little oasis in the yard. I could sit there, reading a book and sipping lemonade. Well, I could if I found a really good summer babysitter…
A third project I’ll like to tackle is creating a fire pit area in a corner of our backyard. So we can all sit comfortably around the fire, roast marshmallows, and just hang out. Anything to be outside instead of in!
I’m participating in the Home Depot Spring DIY program so this will be the year when I actually accomplish some of these tasks instead of forever keeping them on my to-do list!

What outdoor projects do you have planned for this Spring?
I”m so glad it is warming up. I leave all home improvements to my husband.
I like him to do the heavy lifting, but I find if I don’t push him to get projects done, they don’t. So I say I’ll do a project… and then he feels compelled to help or really, take over. 😉
lol!!! Mine is sorta the same way. I’ll just start something and he hurries to come tell me how he wants to do it. But hey, at least it gets done one way or the other! 🙂
PS. Can’t wait to see what you do.
I pretty much assign my sweetie to do the yard work, but I love it when it’s done!

We moved into a new home this year so we have so many projects it’s unreal and unrealistic. The hubs wants flower boxes for the windows, a vegetable garden and a new deck.
We are still waiting on our landscapers to come back and finish our patio and fire pit! I might have to call on Home Depot and do it myself and then God help us all. 🙂 I pretty much have a black thumb when it comes to gardening but I can’t wait to see how yours turns out.
Will be fun to see the projects as you complete them.
Can’t wait to see what you do with that area! My husband is mowing the yard as I type and then we are heading to Home Depot to pick up a few things to start our yard projects of the season as well! Love this time of year.
