This post is part of a series brought to you by TEMPTATIONS™, part of Mars Petcare, who is committed to making “a better world for pets.” I was compensated for this partnership, but all opinions are my own.
Cats are funny creatures. They make you work a little harder for their affection. It can be tricky to figure out how to celebrate National Cat Day (today!), since the ways you’d celebrate your dog are different than what your cat would like.
My cat, Dobby, would give me some serious kitty side eye if I tried to take him to a park or a beach or a pool. Actually, he wouldn’t like it if I took him outside at all. And while Dobby’s dog cousin Rudy likes being dressed up, Dobby tolerated a superhero cape for the two seconds it took me to snap this pic before he tore it off, picked it up in his mouth, and ran off with it. We still have no idea where he hid that cape.

Remember that catnaps are awesome. Let your cat sleep! Give him your softest blanket: all of us in my family try to claim that white fuzzy blanket as our own, including Dobby. Today, it’s all his.

Schedule a check-up with your vet. Your cat probably won’t be thrilled by this one, but if your cat is due for a check-up, let National Cat Day be a reminder to take him in and take care of him, to keep him healthy.
Buy a cat toy. Dobby likes the small balls he can bat around the house or the toys on a stick, especially if there are feathers or bells involved.

To turn snack time into play time, we gave Dobby the TEMPTATIONS SNACKY MOUSE™ Toy, which is an interactive toy that dispenses treats as your cat plays with it.
You just fill up your TEMPTATIONS SNACKY MOUSE™ Toy with your choice of TEMPTATIONS™ and let your cat play and figure it out.
