Zero Calorie Sweet Tea: Southern Breeze Sweet Tea Giveaway

Tracking PixelThis is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Southern Breeze Sweet Tea.

I grew up in the North, where iced tea was served unsweetened with the option to mix in your sweetener of choice. A sweetener that never really did much of anything but settle at the bottom of your glass because the tea was already cold, there was no dissolving it into your drink.

So, I wasn’t really a fan of tea.

Then I moved to the South after graduating from college. It was almost amusing, the way that people’s eyes would practically bulge out of their heads when they’d ask if I’d tried sweet tea yet. With smirks on their faces, thinking the Yankee would not like it. Because Southerners are not joking around when they call it “sweet.”

But I loved it. Right from my very first glass.

Though I refused to make it because the recipes my helpful friends would share with me called for 3-4 cups of sugar for a 2 quart pitcher of sweet tea. And I just couldn’t bring myself to make that, even though I knew good and well that the sweet tea I’d order in restaurants or friends would serve had that much sugar(and calories!) in it.

To say it gets hot down here is an understatement and if I drink sweet tea the way I want to, I could easily find myself drinking my day’s worth of allotted calories.

Then I was introduced to Southern Breeze Sweet Tea, which is sweetened with Splenda. Now my beloved sweet tea is a zero calorie drink.

You brew it like you’re used to making sweet tea. Boil water, then add 2 quarts into a large pitcher with 2 Southern Breeze Sweet Tea tea bags. Let it steep for 3-5 minutes, then chill. The sweetener is already inside the Family Size tea bag.You don’t have to add cups and cups of sugar to get the perfect sweetness.

I’ll admit to being a little bit of a skeptic when this sweet tea was brewing. I’d gotten used to Southern sweet tea, would this really measure up? But, it really does! There are real tealeaves in the tea bags, this isn’t some imitation or powder. This sweet tea tastes so delicious, the perfect balance of tea & sweetness! Now I brew a few pitchers of Southern Breeze Sweet Tea every week, serving it when we have friends over, or enjoying it out on my front porch, along with a good summer read.

I love love sweet tea, but you have to be careful about how “old” it is – stale tea is just awful… I’ve had my share of family try to pass off 3 day old tea and it’s terrible!

My family has always had sweet tea or some kind of tea on hand.  The best was when we were planning BBQs and we’d make sun sweet tea.  It just tastes great after a day outside, wrapping it up with a delicious BBQ!
