Time flies by.
We all say it, we all hear it, we all feel it.
This time of year is especially bittersweet as the kids head off to a new school year. I know I looked back at first day of preschool pictures, wondering how those tiny little peanuts are now suddenly first, third, and fifth graders.
The summer flew by with so much fun. Even lazy days spent by the pool or at the beach added up to a summer that was gone in a blink.
And now the school year with the kids in class all day, with homework, sports, and “free” time blending one day into another.
It makes my head spin and I become that cliched mom who looks at her babies and asks how they suddenly got so big and grown up.
It’s why the family time we took this past week meant so much to me. The kids look at all the fun experiences we had as part of Family Forward: a water park, Universal Orlando, a VIP Tour, casting spells and a dessert party in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, swimming in a fabulous pool, and so much more. And I loved all of that, too.
But what meant the most to me was having a few days when we were together, with nowhere else to be, nothing else to do but just be together.
Instead of the rush, we had a few slow days. And in the chaos that is sure to start right back up this week, it’s nice to have had those days.
