Things They Can’t Say About Family

The holidays seem to bring out the crazy when it comes to dealing with relatives. On my facebook page, I asked bloggers to share what they’ve been dealing with when it comes to their families and the holidays.

They don’t want to exchange gifts. I suggested drawing names this year and they looked at me like I was an alien!
-Rebecca,
Unexplained x2

It’s like I now have 3 kids. No one gives any gas money but expects us to take people everywhere. Take care of everybody my butt.
-NaLonni, Southern Hit or Miss

I love them dearly, but sometimes I don’t like them very much and sometimes dream about not having to share the holiday with them. Of course, then I’d be a different kind of miserable! ๐Ÿ™‚
-LeighAnne, Single Mom in the South

That Christmas Eve is so depressing with all the complaining and moaning…your ALIVE people be grateful! ๐Ÿ™‚
-Melissa, Peanut Butter in My Hair

The presents that my family get me are always wrong, I feel like they don’t know me at all and I get pissed every year, it’s now a joke between DH and myself…
-Holly, Holly’s House

We eat too late for my kids. Hard for a two year old sit still at 7 pm for a formal dinner, and are out too late on Christmas Eve. So much work to do when we get home.
-Leigh, Hines-Sight Blog

My in-laws don’t seem to care about anything other than the gifts. We may as well exchange money and leave.
-Karen, A Healthy, Homemade Holiday

My oldest sister always brings “uninvited” guests. Of course we include them though. Then my middle sister and i hit up the champagne!
-Jenny, Happenings of a Little Bubba

I can’t share the holidays with my siblings because they refuse to speak to each other. I can’t visit them (they live in the same city) without making someone upset, and one sibling hasn’t even met one of my children.
-Tiffany, Jeromes Women

My husband and I adore our giant families but the running we do at Christmas to see everyone is exhausting. My kids think Christmas is a festival it lasts so long and I cry from exhaustion every year.
-Nicole, One Mama’s Tales of Minion Mayhem

Dear family from another state- I am so glad you will be here for Christmas. I am also happy you are visiting us instead of friends and then asking why we never got together while you were in town. Um, we never knew you were here!
-Evonne, Jules Outloud

Dear family: I enjoy the holidays and getting together with everyone, but I am always a bit uptight and on edge when I’m with you, because I feel like you’re constantly judging me. Also, it’s winter, run the heater for pete’s sake. You won’t go broke if you jack it up to 65 every once in a while.
-Amy, Freaky Perfect
