The Home Depot Flower Tower #DigIn

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Home Depot.

I have to admit that whenever I’ve taken on outdoor projects in the past, it’s been when I had to because something needed fixed or we were building something that we could use like a picnic table or a swingset. Before this weekend, I’d never done a project just for fun or decoration. So trying my hand at vertical gardening with The Home Depot Garden Club‘s Flower Tower was a new experience for me.

What  I was most looking forward to was trying something new and getting that feeling of accomplishment that comes with finishing a project. Even my supplies were mostly new to me, including items like galvanized wire, landscape fabric, potting soil, and a utility knife.

As I wondered around The Home Depot, all the brightly colored flowers caught my eye. Usually, I notice gorgeous flowers in others’ yards, but this time, they were going to be in mine in the form of vertical gardening.

I took my eight year-old along on my shopping trip to The Home Depot and he kept pointing out other projects he’d like to try his hand at, but we stayed focused on the Flower Tower for this trip.

The best part of this Flower Tower project was that my kids were all willing to #DigIn and help out! When we were done, my four year old said “Wow, it’s like a tower of flowers!”

I can’t wait to see what our Flower Tower looks like when it has a chance to grow and bloom! You can get a sneak preview of the work that went into this project in the video below.

That looks so cool! I so want to make that. I have to say I am so jealous that you guys are in shorts too!

It was actually pretty easy- I think I’m going to make another one this week! I’m so glad our spring weather finally got here. Usually, we’ve been in shorts for a month by now.

That looks awesome! I’m not very good with flowers. Usually the ones in the flowerbeds get watered because of the grass, but otherwise I just don’t remember. Spring is going on here too! Our Apricot tree is popping all over the place!

My boys love watering flowers at their grammy’s house, so now it can be their job here.

Okay, with my black thumb, I read “galvanized wire” and thought, there is no way I could do that. Then I saw the video and you made it look pretty easy and I love that your boys wanted to dig in. I have a feeling I’d be on my own over here or Gia would be the only one and then it would take me 4 hours instead of 2. 🙂 Can’t wait to see the progress.

I was a little intimidated by it, too. I thought for sure I’d have to get my husband to do the wire part. But it was actually very easy. I will most likely be making another one this week!

That looks like fun, and it is cool that the kids wanted to help you out.

It was fun- it has me thinking that I can do more projects around the house! My boys liked the potting soil, which of course they called dirt.

I love it. I’m not a gardener, but I think it’s time to start. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

I never considered myself one either, but now I’m seeing that it’s not that hard and I want to do more!

I would like to try this! What flowers did you use or would recommend?
