Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideas

As a former teacher, I loved Teacher Appreciation Week. Yes, I liked presents, I’ll admit. And so now that I’m on the other side of the desk, I try to make sure to give good Teacher Appreciation Gifts. Teachers work hard!

In previous years, I’ve done  movie themed Teacher Appreciation Gifts (though now I swap out either a Visa gift card or a Movie Theater gift card instead of Blockbuster, since you can’t find one of those anymore).

Last year, we put together fun Tervis cups with drink mixes inside as our Teacher Appreciation Gifts. We’re doing these this year for my boys’ teacher assistants.

We’ve also done some last minute Teacher Appreciation Gifts– quick, easy to put together gift ideas for your child’s teacher.

But this, year, I wanted to do something a little bigger, especially for my kindergartener and second grader’s teachers- both of them have been absolutely beyond amazing phenomenally incredible.

I found cute beach totes on Amazon and filled them with everything their teachers would need for a day at the beach for this year’s teacher appreciation gift. Flip flops and hair ties from Old Navy. Everything else from Target: water bottle, sunscreen, lip balm, nail polish(for cute toes!), flavoring for drinks, mints, snacks, first aid kit, and wet ones. Along with a gift card to Barnes and Noble so they can pick up a book of their choice(much as I wanted to impose my own reading taste on them, I decided to go with the gift card). Neither of them has kids, so no sand toys needed. I considered adding a picnic type blanket for under their beach towels or sunglasses or a fun sun hat, but decided I’d better stop before I went completely overboard.

Wow, what nice gifts! I am making little felt gift card purses and putting a gift card to a popular cupcakery inside. I’m making each one individual – one of them has a cupcake on it, one an apple with worm, and one a frog. I still have one more to make, but haven’t decided yet what to put on it.

I love this! Thank you. Was freaking out this morning because I thought I’d missed it but yay! I didn’t and YAY you’re giving me a great idea!

This week is the official Teacher Appreciation Week with tomorrow being the official day. But some schools celebrate it on different dates. And some parents send something in the last week of school instead. Really no such thing as missing it. 😉

I haven’t decided on a teacher gift yet. These are great ideas!

Thanks! I try to stay practical with things they can use.

Wow, those are amazing ideas. Ugh I feel terrible that I haven’t come up with anything or done anything. I didn’t even realize it was teacher appreciation week! I love Ben’s kindergarten teacher and I know she’s really big into gardening so I’ve been planning at sort of cute gardening kit idea to give to her on the last day of school as a thank you: seeds, some cute gloves, maybe a hand rake and shovel in a cute bucket.

Oh, that would be such a great gift! Some parents give gifts this week and some wait until the last week. Either way is totally fine. 😉

    What a great idea.

Nick’s daycare is doing a themed week and asked for donations for a breakfast one day, gift cards another day (each teacher gets to pick one), etc.  I bought a gift card to donate.

I’m thinking I’ll either do a gift card for Jack’s teacher, or a plant/flower.  His teacher won’t get hers until next week, as his school is off this week (he goes to a year round school).

I’ll probably do flowers for Luke’s daycare provider.  She’s an in-home provider, so I don’t even know if she knows about it.

I like the themed days. Some of the schools I worked in did those but ours doesn’t(I think b/c we don’t have a PTA to organize it).

I love the beach day idea! I too an a sucker for teacher appreciation week as a former teacher. I always go with my favorite gift to get-Starbucks gift cards. You just cannot have too many!

So true. Gift cards are great gifts! I think I’m going with a movie theater gift card for my youngest’s teacher- maybe with some candy in the bag with it.

We were all asked to send in money to go toward gift cards. I love your idea.

I like group gifts like that. But there hasn’t been anyone to organize those in my boys’ classes. I thought about trying but wasn’t sure if I could get it together.

I didn’t know until I read this. This is a great idea and takes the hard work out of me having to think of one and since both twins have the same teacher, I can go a little overboard. 🙂

Wow! You are so thoughtful and generous. I have to confess to giving the teachers a nice piece of Tupperware stuffed with Tootsie Rolls.
