#SweetSuite14: Best Toys for Boys

I attended The Big Toy Book #SweetSuite14 event at Blogger Bash in New York last month where I got to play with, learn about, and in some cases, get some of the toys I saw. But I’m so excited about finding so much cool stuff for boys that I’m sharing just out of pure excitement. All opinions are my own.

I cannot believe how many awesome toys there were at Sweet Suite! And while they had toys for all ages and both boys and girls, I’m going to share my favorites for boys since I’m an all-boy mom. My three troublemakers are 6, 8, and 9 so these are the toys that would appeal the most to them. If you have boys close to this age range, be sure to check these out. Many are good for girls as well- but you know: boy mom here.

Skylanders Trap Team This was the one my boys were the most excited about, after they took a look at some of the brands I’d get to meet with in New York. They are HUGE Skylanders Swap Force Fans, and they are counting down until the release of this new video game this fall. They thought it was so cool that I got to have my picture taken with a Skylander and preview the new game.

Disney Infinity This is a game we don’t have yet and like Skylanders, there are different character figurines you can get that changes the game. The 2.0 version has Marvel Super Heroes characters, which will appeal to my boys.

Hexbug My boys have a few of the Hexbug sets and they love to build. The new Hexbugs give them even more to build. My oldest loves any type of engineering project, so this is right up his alley, as is LEGO, which was also at Sweet Suite. A classic, of course, but a classic for a reason.

Kurio At lunch right before Sweet Suite, Kristen and I were chatting about getting our children phones. How we never thought we’d do it this early, but how convenient it would be. Though we’d want lots of safety features built in. So we completely flipped over the Kurio kids’ phone. This might be my oldest’s 10th birthday present this fall. Kurio also has kids’ tablets, but it was the phone I was most interested in for my tween.

Razor Anytime I see these scooters anywhere, I swear that I’m going to get my boys them, because they are awesome(though their Crazy Cart is what I really want so that I can drive around in it). We don’t have any of these yet, but soon!

Wowee had these really awesome robots. And if you have more than one, you can make them battle each other. Hey, I have three boys: you KNOW if they had these robots, the first thing they would do would be to have them battle. Better the robots than my boys.

Bananagrams Okay, so it’s me who LOVES words and any sort of word games. But we have a set of Bananagrams and I’ve gotten all of the boys to play this fun game with me.

MINECRAFT! I’ve probably mentioned a time or a thousand that my boys are all die-hard Minecraft fans. At #SweetSuite14, there were Minecraft toys from Jazwares. Out of the huge box of goodies we were sent from this event, it was the Minecraft toy that my boys arguing over who got to play with it first(though maybe only because they already had the Skylander we were sent).

The great part about #SweetSuite14 is getting to play with the toys and learn more about them, all without the kids tagging along, asking if we could please buy ALL THE TOYS RIGHT NOW. I learned about brands we already love and got to find out more info about new-to-me brands. For example, I would have looked at Sands Alive from Play Visions and shook my head, thinking it was messy and never going to make it in my house. Yet, I learned that it could land on your living room carpet and come up all in one piece, so now I think it would make a great gift.

Which of these toys is your favorite?

Kurio might be my favorite right now. My son is a little too young for most of the toys mentioned (but I’m glad that boys have more OPTIONS!)

My boys do like them, too! Though the TMNT toys I saw there were skewed a little younger. We did get a great one in our box of goodies, though!

Those are great toys for both boys and girls. My daughter isn’t much into pink princess type toys and she tends to grab for toys like these. Just wanted to put that out there.

That’s why I said “Many are good for girls, too.” 😉 I just tend to focus on the boy, since I’m an all boy mama.
