Sundays should be for lazing around. At least for a little while, anyway. My favorite lazy day definitely includes reading. Here’s what I read this week:
Destiny Lingers by Rolonda Watts: Fate brings a heartbroken Destiny back to her roots on Topsail Island. She’s trying to get over the pain caused by her husband and best friend. The local police chief is her childhood friend, one whose friendship used to have to be kept hidden due to racial tensions when they were growing up. But now could be the right time for them to find more than friendship.
I love the setting since I often go to the beach mentioned. This is a perfect beach read. Or spring break read, even if you aren’t any where near the beach. I was sent a review copy of Destiny Lingers for my honest opinion of this book.
Starflight by Melissa Landers: I tried Uppercase Box which is a monthly subscription box for Young Adult book lovers. You get a book and book-related gifts every month. Very cool idea, though like any monthly subscription service, you can end up with items that just aren’t for you. You can see what I got in my box by checking out my instagram.
As for the book itself: this is one of my favorite YA dystopian books I’ve read lately. Solara Brooks indentures herself to the boy who made her high school life miserable, in order to get passage off the earth into the outer realm. Space pirates, government conspiracy, mystery, and a little romance. I can’t wait for the second book in this series! I do have to say that the interactive reading experience with the Uppercase Box- a bookmark with codes to enter on their site when you reach different points in the book, was very cool. Like an online bookclub.
