One of my absolute favorite things to do in the summertime is to go out on a boat.
There’s just something so relaxing about being out on the water. 82% of Americans say being around water is relaxing, so I’m not alone in this.
Around 142 million Americans go boating every year. You don’t even have to own a boat yourself in order to head out on the water.
Of course, it’s really, really nice to have friends with a boat. But if you don’t want to look at them with big puppy dog eyes and hope they invite you out, Discover Boating can get you out on the water.
You can head to Discover Boating, put in your zip code, and it will show you boat rentals and charters near you.
Since 84% of parents think their kids would be more likely to unplug on a boat trip versus a road trip, boating is a great way to have some screen-free time. My kids know they aren’t allowed to bring any devices out on the water. And they don’t miss having them around, either. Not when we’re out on the boat. I only bring mine to take photos.
My kids fish, tube, play in the water, look for shells, go for walks on an island that we can only reach by boat. Plus, they enjoy the boat ride itself. As soon as it starts getting warm in the spring, we start planning boat time.
Discover Boating is a great resource for all things boating. It has interactive features and plenty of info so you can cross “go boating” off your summer bucket list.
