I think if I tried to list a soundtrack of my life, like Mama Kat suggested in her Writing Workshop prompt, I’d be way too long. And not in a good Gone With the Wind way, but in a bad oh, dear Lord, isn’t this over yet way like the craptastic Pirates movie I sat through with my kids a few weeks ago.
So, I’m being a cheater and giving you the songs that represent the past year.
Knee Deep by Zac Brown Band
“Gonna put the world away for a minute, pretend I don’t live in it. Sunshine gonna wash my blues away.” Hello, escapism: and the beach is my happy place, so this is my unofficial anthem. Unofficial because I’m pretty sure I’d have to pay someone a ton of money to make it my official one.
Little Miss by Sugarland
“It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alright. Yeah sometimes you gotta lose ’til you win.” Combination whiny-yet-going-to-kick-some-ass song. And since I tend to get whiny and yet want to kick ass anyway, this is a perfect fit.
Fast Cars and Freedom by Rascal Flatts
It will come as no surprise to those of you who heard about my fangirl/stalker moment earlier this year, but I had to throw in a Rascal Flatts song. This one is perfect because despite my upcoming birthday, I still ain’t old, ya’ll.
A Woman Like You by Lee Brice
Here is where I need to admit that I don’t always want to smother Hubs with a pillow and tell you that he says that this next song always makes him think of me. Awwww. He so gets points for this.
Ours by Taylor Swift
While I don’t usually appreciate someone who isn’t even old enough to drink yet giving me life advice, I have to admit that I will sing “Don’t you worry your pretty little mind, people throw rocks at things that shine” all day after I hear this song… as evidenced by my 6 year-old:
But even though my three year-old is now addicted to Justin Bieber, I’m still not adding any of his songs to my list. It does feel a little wrong not to have a Kenny Chesney song on this list though… but well, It’s 5:00 Somewhere…
What song(s) would be on your life’s soundtrack?
I can still use your help meeting my #MiracleMoms goal. Donating will make you feel all warm and fuzzy, but will also get your button on my blog!
