Savings on Gas for Your Mom Taxi Duties

I created this post as part of a sponsored series with Socialstars and Shell; all opinions are my own. #ShellCrowd

Yesterday, I drove my kids to school, then drove back home.

Next up was the gym for yoga class, a stop at the grocery store, then back home to work.

The afternoon meant a trip to the school for pick up, dropping the kids off at a neighbors’ house, then back to the school for a conference.

After that, taking the kids back home to get ready for practice and then a drive up to the soccer field for practice, a stop at the store for forgotten juice boxes for the next day’s lunches, then finally back home. Phew!

I might not have a long commute since I work from my desk at home (or, okay, from my living room floor most of the time), but I still have to run errands and drive my three kids all over the place for soccer, baseball, basketball, karate, hip hop, and/or cross country, depending on what season it is. While most practices are within a 10-30 minute drive, there are games and races that have us driving up to two hours to get there. It all adds up because we’re always going somewhere.

I’ve learned that a majority of sports offer a multiple child discount, a team discount, a discount for paying early, or sometimes payment plans. Paying for three kids to be involved in several sports each gets pricey with the team fees/dues plus all the equipment they need, so we’ve had to find ways to be smart about paying for all of it.

But one thing that I used to have a hard time saving money on was all the gas I needed to drive to all those activities. I could look around for the gas station that had the cheapest gas, but I found that most usually were within a cent of each other anyway. And gas isn’t something I can decide to do without.

That’s why I signed up for Shell’s new Fuel Rewards® program which helps its members save at least 3 cents per gallon just by swiping a free membership card.

It’s really quick and easy to sign up. New members can get a discount of 25 cents off per gallon. Then, you either swipe your card or enter your member ID at the pump and save. Shell #fuelrewards will help me save on my mom-taxi duties. Since it’s so easy to do, make sure you sign up for Shell’s new Fuel Rewards® program, too.
