As much as I want to pretend it’s still Summer, the reality is that we’ll blink and it will be Christmas. YIKES.
One gift idea that tends to work for a lot of people (and can be something you ask for yourself) is subscription boxes. There are boxes out there for pretty much everything these days. I’ve tried a few different ones lately and I’m going to share some of these over the next few weeks. All of them are ones I bought for myself and am sharing just because I think you might like them, too. Some of these subscription box reviews may contain an affiliate link, but I’ll let you know if that’s the case.
This first one I’m sharing is one of my new favorites because the price is reasonable and it’s very much to my taste.
With the Pura Vida Monthly Club, you get three bracelets every month, for $14.95(plus tax, but free shipping). The bracelet packs are valued up to $50, though that can vary. The three I was sent the first month would have cost $48 had I bought them separately and the second month’s would have been $49. I like that I could find these same bracelets on their site and see the individual prices and see that these aren’t just cast-offs that no one wanted or that the value isn’t what they’re claiming it is. (I’ve been burned by “sales” from other sites where they tell you you’re saving so much but in reality, they’re just giving you products they couldn’t sell or ones that were marked up just so they could then give you a “sale.”) That’s not the case here. I do think the price for the Pura Vida Monthly Club is reasonable.
You can cancel at any time. For Christmas, give a girlfriend or sister a three month subscription (make a card letting them know this is what they’re getting- just remember to cancel after the 3 months… or whatever length of time you decide to give). This way, you give a nice present, but actually spread out the cost to you, which can help you stay in your holiday budget.
I like the casual, almost beachy vibe to a lot of these bracelets. They’re adjustable (even I can do this without having to ask someone for help), can be mix and matched, and are durable- you could even keep them on in the shower or in the ocean. There’s a one year guarantee on the bracelets. Your first month’s will ship right after you order though you will be charged for subsequent months on the 10th and then have your package around the 15th of every month.
The only drawback I’m seeing so far is that you won’t always get bracelets that are exactly your style. You could either pair one with others you actually do like and see if it grows on you or… give it to a friend.
Aside from the Pura Vida Monthly Club, you can shop from their style packs, which are (like it sounds) styled to match in a complementary way. I adore the Salty Pineapple Pack, the Pacific Daze pack, and the Autism Awareness Pack (and… and… seriously- so many cute packs). The only drawback to the packs over the monthly club: the price. You’re definitely getting a deal with the Pura Vida Monthly Club. Though if you use this link (affiliate) to shop, you’ll get 50% off your order of $40 or more.
Every bracelet purchased helps provide full time jobs for local artisans in Costa Rica. Pura Vida has charity collections where part of the bracelet cost is donated to a designated charity. You can view the charity collections here.
