Not My Kids

First things first!

Lynn, over at Midday Escapades has me featured on her Meet ‘n Greet Monday today! How cool is that? Go check it out….if for no other reason than she always has some really awesome giveaways going on!

I’ll wait right here for you to go check it out.
Okay, now on to today’s post:

It certainly was NOT me who got worried when my boys were quiet downstairs. It was NOT me who went looking for them and NOT me who started to panic when they were not in their rooms.
Because it’s NOT my children who would go outside by themselves if given the chance.
It’s NOT me who hoped that they had just gone into my room instead.

It’s NOT my children who know how to break these “childproof” locks off the door.

It’s NOT my children who went out the sliding glass doors to the deck. Even though it was NOT freezing cold outside.

It’s NOT my kids who turned on the faucet and played in the freezing cold water, completely soaking themselves. And it especially is NOT my children who were standing there dripping wet, with one only wearing a pair of pants and one only wearing a t-shirt.

It was NOT me who screamed at them. NOT me who was freaking out, imagining that if I hadn’t caught them when I did, they would have gone down the steps….

across the yard, and out to the beach.

Because my children would NOT do that, if given the chance. Especially NOT in the freezing cold, when they are dripping wet, and with no adult with them.

And it was NOT me who needs to invest in some better childproofing gadgets.

Go check out MckMama’s blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

And don’t forget to go stop by Lynn’s blog to say hi!

P.S. I couldn’t play with Supahmommy and MommyBrain because they wanted to know about your best birthday…and all of mine pretty much sucked or were completely unmemorable. Where’s the leftover cake from my pity party last week?

Little Things Can Make Me Cry(in a good way this time)
Stick ‘Em Up!

How scary! My son snuck out to play in the snow the other day. I freaked out!

I now have a completely different view point about having the beach outside the back door. Secretly, I would still love to have that view.

    Glad they're ok!

I can just imagine how freaked out you must have been. I know I would be. Reminds me when my son was 2 and wondered off to the orchard beside our house dressed in his diaper only…wouldn't want to re-live that. Worst 20 minutes of my life….

  13. Mommy Taylor says

    January 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm

Wow, that must have been scary. My boys are 3 and 1 right now… I know this day is coming for me. Not looking forward to all the trouble I know they're gonna get in to.

Glad things turned out ok. πŸ™‚

I think if we team up and invent child-proofing devices that actually stop our children, we'd be rich! I mean, if we actually had children that broke locks, NOT the sweet, innocent well-behaved kids that we do… πŸ˜‰

On a side note…I have your pity party cake right here…its a GIANT chocolate chip cookie! I thought I would bring some with me for Bloggy Boot Camp.

  25. happygal says

    January 11, 2010 at 4:10 pm

Ah yes, it's always just when you think you have done enough to childproof, that you are reminded that you haven't. Great story (and glad it all turned out okay)

  26. The Blue Zoo says

    January 11, 2010 at 4:24 pm

Isnt it funny how kids can always get past the so called 'child proofed'?

  27. Juliana says

    January 11, 2010 at 4:32 pm

OMG scary….my little one is just starting to reach the door handles. This totally freaks me out I feel for you but I had to laugh with all the pictures you took!

@^%$# what a start to your week! Makes me kinda wana get better locks for my doors as it's only a matter of time with my own Bear, I'm sure.

  34. Sarah and the Gentlemen says

    January 11, 2010 at 6:33 pm

Hilarious! I know. It wasn't at the time… but is yet?

My nephews sneaked outside while my sis-in-law was in the shower and promptly locked themselves out. The oldest had to use the bathroom and couldn't so decided to take a dump on the front porch then he ran up and down the sidewalk without pants on until said sil rounded them up and barracaded herself in the house for the rest of the day out of complete embarrassement.
    Boys are awesome.

I think child proof items are actually parent proof. Thank goodness they are ok though and that you did Not holler at them for scaring the crap outta you!!

  38. Elle says

    January 11, 2010 at 10:00 pm

Oh, how scary! I don't have kids, but my nephews and niece have taught me that childproof usually means "only the child can open it."

  39. Helene says

    January 11, 2010 at 11:30 pm

My kids figured out those darn childproof door knobs too awhile ago, much to my dismay. What a gorgeous view of the beach you have from your home!!!!

  40. adrienzgirl says

    January 12, 2010 at 1:20 am

Childproof right! Ever wonder where the hell they find the "kids" who test the so called childproof products? I do.

  41. Arizona Mamma says

    January 12, 2010 at 1:29 am

Ah yes, the peaceful quiet is always mischief in the making!

Can I just tell you though, I would be a nervous wreck living there…I would have nightmares about them and the beach. I get a little panicky just thinking of it for you!

  42. Paula says

    January 12, 2010 at 11:34 am

So glad they didn't escape all the way to the beach! Scary thought!

    Stopping in from SITS

  43. kys says

    January 12, 2010 at 2:07 pm

I'm pretty sure you're raising some little McGuivers there.

It was NOT ME who said to my husband "How many more times are you going to be off when I'm home?"

  44. Corrie Howe says

    January 13, 2010 at 3:05 pm

I saw you over at Midday Escapades! And I would so be on the beach if I lived that close…nothing would keep me away.

  45. Melissa says

    January 13, 2010 at 6:32 pm

That DOES sound like something my little boy would do! I had to explain to him why he had to wear shoes and a coat outside when we had 2 feet of snow!
