New Star Wars Fans with LEGO® Star Wars™: Droid Tales

Imagine Darth Vader as a little kid. If his mom tried to serve him a sandwich he didn’t like, of course he’d give her a terrifying look and growl “I find your lack of white bread disturbing,” which is exactly what happened during the first episode of LEGO® Star Wars™: Droid Tales, sending my family into snorts of laughter and quickly becoming a line they repeat often (especially since we are strictly a honey wheat bread family).

My boys like the Star Wars characters, even having battled Darth Vader recently. But they don’t know the full Star Wars saga. LEGO® Star Wars™ puts a humorous spin on the Star Wars universe – thanks to the specials like Yoda Chronicles, Padawan Menace and now the funny Droid Tales series – adults have as much fun catching up on the Star Wars story as the kids do, while they watch and build.

The combination of the show, and the sets, creates a catching up experience the entire family enjoys. My husband and I both watched Droid Tales along with our boys and not in that just sitting there with them but discreetly checking our phones and calling it family time type of way, but really watching and laughing along.

It’s fun to see our boys enjoying something we liked as kids, though my husband was much more into Star Wars than I was- I just wanted to be Princess Leia and have a pet Ewok, while he knows all the Star Wars™ trivia and is passing it along to our boys, who are quickly becoming huge fans.

Since there are so many characters, ships, and environments in the Star Wars™ universe, it can get a little confusing if you don’t have a superfan in your house. But with the LEGO sets, your kids can recreate favorite scenes or create their own adventure with  Luke, Leia, C-3PO and everyone else. Just like Droid Tales, you get to retell the story the way you want, as you build – it’s the perfect progression of enjoying the Star Wars story and then retelling it in your own way. See, comprehension and retelling skills: it’s educational, y’all!
