Moving on to New Stages

This post is part of a series brought to you by Iams, part of Mars Petcare, who is committed to “a better world for pets”. I was compensated for this partnership, but all opinions are my own.

Being the youngest of three can be rough. The baby in our family always seemed so small. He’s the last to get to do everything. While his brothers were running all around, he was stuck crawling or being carried. The older boys would chow down on pizza, burgers, and ice cream, while the baby was getting his first bite of a smashed up banana.

It was to keep him safe. He couldn’t run around yet because he would have gotten hurt. He couldn’t eat the same foods because he needed baby food.

But pretty soon, the baby was moving and almost able to keep up with his brothers.

And then all of a sudden, he can do everything they can do and eat everything they can. Sometimes, he can even do things they can’t and eat things they’re too picky to try. He’s not a baby any more, even if he’ll always be my baby.

We think about what our kids need at every stage, but it’s important to consider those other babies in our lives, too: our pets.

In the 1980s, IAMS™ changed the face of the pet food aisle, introducing pet formulas based on life stages by launching a custom puppy formula.

Back when we first brought home our kitten, Dobby, he was such a wee thing and he ate IAMS™ Kitten Food.

Since Dobby will be a year old next month, he’ll be moving on to IAMS™ Cat Food. We chose IAMS™ because they are dedicated to helping cats live long, healthy lives through innovative nutrition that truly makes a difference. Though years of observing the behavior of cats, combined with research and dietary findings, IAMS™ believes that the right diet can help pets boost immunity, burn fat and maintain muscle, and promote healthy digestion.

As we switch Dobby to cat food, we’ll do 75% kitten food/25% cat food on day 1, 50/50 kitten/adult food on day 2, 75% adult food/25% kitten food on day 3, and then 100% cat food by day 4.
