Memories Captured: Another School Year Down

One school year.

That can pass so quickly I can hardly believe it’s summer again.

Yet one school year….

second grade

First and last day of second grade

is long enough to turn my oldest into a young man. One whose head reaches my shoulder. Who found a love of reading this year. Who learned to control those long limbs to boot the soccer ball down the field and shoot baskets with great accuracy. Who will head into the “big kid” hall at school in the fall.

kindergarten year

First and last day of kindergarten

One school year is enough to turn a little boy who struggles into one who thrives. Who looked so delicate and fragile at the start of the year- yet could hold his own playing on his big brother’s team by the end of the year. Who will no longer be in the youngest class in the school in the fall- first grade, here he comes.

First and last day of preschool

First and last day of preschool

One school year is enough to turn the baby of the family into not so much of a baby any more. Who talks our ears off and impresses us with how much he learns every day. Who confidently doesn’t want Mom’s help any more and heads off on his own adventures. Who will be in the big kid class at school next year.

It’s another school year down and time is spinning faster than ever.

Your boys are SO handsome. I love their long hair. These side-by-side photos are so awesome.

Time is spinning faster than ever. That is so very true.

Your boys are handsome. They have grown up so much in the years since I’ve been reading your blog.

I love how you likened that one school year to so many changes. They DO grow up so quickly, I’m realizing. My own little boy will start “big school” this year, and he’s just 3 years old. Just twice a week in a small school in our neighborhood, but still: I feel like it’s SO hard to let go of his toddler days and babyhood.

The start and end of the school year are the times I notice that time is passing the most. It goes so fast, yet there are so many changes over the course of those months.

Your boys are so handsome! This was my daughter’s first year of preschool and I saw these awesome side-by-side images floating around, so I did one this year as well. It is amazing to see the changes. Stuck in the grind of everyday life you just don’t realize how much they are growing.

Sometimes, I can’t believe how quickly time flies.  Thank you for sharing this celebratory moment with us!  Before we know it, school will be back in session!

How did I not know to take a last day of school photo! I took the first day of kindergarten, but totally forgot the last. It was only last week, I can still recreate it, right? =)

I loving looking at side by side pics. I think your middle has changed the most. All three are so handsome. Future heartbreakers 🙂

I cannot believe the difference in all three of them from the beginning to now! The missing front teeth got me. I miss that! You seriously have 3 heartbreakers on your hands. Is it wrong that I look at your middle bear and want to jump for joy at the strides he has made? The confidence inhis smile in his end of year picture is awesome!

They are gorgeous and growing so very fast. I would love to do the contrasting pictures but that would take planning on my part. Here’s to a wonderful summer for you and yours!

Now, why have I never thought of doing a comparison from beginning of the year to end of the year? Maybe I shall start this year? It’s amazing to see how our little ones change in such a short time period.
