Memories Captured: A Summer of Splashes

I gave birth to fish.

They like to swim at the pool, jump into the ocean, run through sprinklers, and of course shoot each other with waterguns.

We’re only a few weeks into summer vacation, but it’s apparent that this year will be a summer of water.

Beach towels, sunblock, a cooler full of drinks, flip-flops, and water toys go with us almost everywhere.

Enthusiastic play, giggles, the occasional splash fight, and even rare quiet moments near the water.

Even though going to the beach with kids is so much harder than it was pre-kids, it’s still so much fun! Exhausting, but fun.

Do your kids love the water?

Oh, cute cute cute pictures! My two boys are total fish too, and that’s one of the reasons I love summer so much! We all love to swim… and spend as much time as possible in the pool!

Great pictures!!  We’ve been around water a lot so far this summer too.  With the temps in the high 90’s the past few days, water has been almost mandatory!

It has been so hot! We’re going to be at 100 at the end of the week. Ugh.

Love the water. All my kids are beach babies. They love the pool as well. They are fishes too! We should do a beach date one day, if you are up to it, with all the kids. That would be FUN! My boys would love to have some other boys to play with. Their sister can become annoying. LOL.

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 12:48 pm

I have to curb the water gun thing some- our rule is they can shoot each other all they want and anyone else with a watergun, but no one else. “No shooting an unarmed kid.” LOL

SO much more work! I guess a few years from now, it will be easier. I hope.

  17. Sela Toki says

    June 21, 2012 at 12:12 pm

When they were younger they like to live in water. Now that they are grown, some of them don’t. But Summer time is pool, beach and any kind of water time for the kids. So much fun. Love the pictures.

    • Shell says

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 12:56 pm

You definitely have some water boys for sure. Will definitely loves the water and Eli seems to really enjoy it as well. Sounds like you are going to have one exciting and busy summer Shell!

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 12:57 pm

Makes our summer plans easy- just head to the pool and we’re good for the day!

  21. angela says

Abbey adores the water. Dylan likes playing in it but not swimming, at least not yet. And you make me wish we lived closer to decent beaches!

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 12:58 pm

Have you tried a puddle jumper with him? See? I am a puddle jumper pusher.

  22. Kimberly says

I have a family of fish here too. They love the water, and since I’ve always loved it too, that makes me happy. We are always in the pool or at the beach in the summer. And you’re right, doing this with kids is exhausting, but so much fun!

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 12:58 pm

I usually want a nap whenever we get home. Not that it ever happens!

  23. Oka says

Wish our pools weren’t private clubs or that lived closer to the beach.  I know my kids would live in the water if they were given a choices.

I remember I was 12 when I moved Hawaii.  I spent every minute I could at the community pool and/0r beach.

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 12:59 pm

Thankfully, there is a reasonable public pool near us. The private ones are insane.

Can’t begin to image living in Hawaii! Would love that!

My kids are little water babies too. So much fun!

Even though we are close to the beach, we go to the pool more. It seems easier.

  26. Katie E says

    June 21, 2012 at 8:14 pm

Awesome pictures! My kids love the water – but we don’t belong to a pool so they don’t get to enjoy it as often as they’d like.

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 1:00 pm

My kids want to be there every single day. Thankful for a reasonably priced one nearby!

  27. Jennifer says

    June 21, 2012 at 8:26 pm

My kids are not so much into water. They like the idea of it, but the actual playing in it is a different story.

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 1:01 pm

Probably makes your time near water less stressful!

  28. Galit Breen says

    June 21, 2012 at 9:33 pm

I have fish at my place, too!

And secretly? I love it! Such a fab excuse to relax and enjoy summer, yes?

(Beautifully done, girl! Love the collage!)

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 1:01 pm

It really is! And right near the water, I have to be offline. It’s a good excuse.

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 1:04 pm

I think it will be that way- they’ll think of the water when they think back on childhood.

  31. Tricia says

    June 22, 2012 at 8:41 am

Love the photos! I am desperately trying to make my little one a water-loving girl. 🙂

    • Shell says

  33. Emmy says

    June 23, 2012 at 6:43 pm

Alex does– Lucas has just learned to love it the last year or so.  Ryder loves pools- the ocean not so much

    • Shell says

      June 25, 2012 at 1:06 pm

My oldest just recently decided he likes the ocean. Before this summer, he loved to play in the sand, but didn’t like the water at the beach.
