Sure, blogging can be a great way to keep track of memories and for us to use as a form of free therapy.
For those of us who continue blogging, it has a lot to do with the friendships that we make, the community that we feel.
But, community isn’t something that automatically happens when you first hit “publish” on a blog post. How do you build community?
I get asked this question a lot and have shared some advice on how to start to do this on your own blogs.
Because it’s such a common question, Ashley and I decided that it would be our first class for How to Rock Your Blog, our new project that we told you about two weeks ago when we had our unofficial launch with the Kindle Fire giveaway.
Building Your Community and Engagement will offer you practical tips for what you can do on your blog to help build community. We’ll walk you through tips on how to make your blog community-friendly, how to identify your audience, how to attract engaged readers, and how to keep that community growing. Practical advice, to-do lists, and personalized suggestions will be covered in this course. Our goal is to take community from a blogging buzzword to a reality on your blog.
This will be a three week course with one live webinar a week where we will go over the outline for the week. Then, we will open it up to any questions you may have so no one is left feeling lost! Following the webinar, we will provide you with handouts with actual activities to perform that go along with that week’s session.
Once you are confirmed in the course, you will also be given access to private forums, where you can ask as many questions as you need to throughout your session. This will also lend us to partner and/or team work for some of our material!
The first class will kick off the week of April 2nd. Live webinars will take place on Tuesday evenings at 8:00pm ET. If you miss the live session, you will have the opportunity to catch up later. Participation is limited to the first 20 who register so that we can give you individual attention.
This course is being offered for an introductory rate of $30.
If you sign up for both the Community Building Class and How to Transfer from Blogger to WordPress, you’ll get both classes for $50. Also, those who participate in these first sessions will get special pricing on upcoming sessions like Using Photos Effectively on Your Blog. In the spirit of community building, the first “Things They Can’t Say” spot in May has been reserved for a Community Building class participant.
Ready to register? Register now and secure your spot! Ashley and I are so excited to help you Rock Your Blog!

This is a great idea, and as someone who has watched your blog grow into such an amazing community over the past few years, I know you know what you’re talking about!
Thank you! 🙂
I so agree. This will be a great course.
Thanks- we’re excited about it!
Sounds very tempting Shell 🙂
🙂 Join us!
Very cool. This is definitely right up your alley. One day, long ago, we both had about the same number of followers. You really do know how to build a community!!
Thanks, girl.
We’ve known each other forever, haven’t we?
What an awesome venture! I met my most bestest friends in the whole wide world blogging! It has totally changed my life in a VERY VERY good way!!
It’s something that’s hard to understand until you actually blog. xo
Great idea! And what a great service that can be for new bloggers trying to start out
Thanks- we’re excited about it!!
What a great idea! You are true community builder.
Thank you so much!!
Just registered! Can’t wait to start.
Yay!! We’re excited about it!
You guys are gonna rock How To Rock Your Blog!
Thank you! xo
You know how awestruck I am by the community you’ve built here. I can’t imagine learning from anyone more qualified. I know right now that I can’t make any of the live webinars. How big of a piece are they? Would you recommend I take the class anyway?
You will still be able to watch the sessions at your convenience. The piece you’d miss out on is getting live answers to any questions you’d have. But, we also have the private forums so you’d be able to ask there. We know that not everyone will be able to make it to the live session so we have the class set up so that you can still do it if you have to miss! 🙂
Shell, this sounds awesome and I wish you all the best in this new endeavor! 🙂
Thanks, Paula!
What a great idea for a class! I’ve discovered that community and friendships are hidden gems (maybe not so hidden, but certainly not something I expected when I started blogging) in the blogging world.
I had no idea that they would end up being the biggest piece of blogging.
Not only is this great but your rate is awesome!
Thanks- we really wanted to keep it reasonable!
I second what Sharon said. I didn’t realize what an important piece of the puzzle the community would be. I could still use help though… may have to sign up!
Hope you’ll join us!
What a great course, Shell!!
Thanks, Alison!
This class sounds like a great idea. Good luck with it! I wish you many many enrollees 🙂
Thanks! We’re excited about it!!
Sounds like a great idea. Hmmmm may have to consider it. I love to learn and hear other people’s experiences.
Join us! 🙂
I do Zumba Tuesday nights at 730…
You’ll have another chance to watch the sessions. Plus, with the private forums, you can ask any questions you have there, too. 🙂
oh well 8pm is a little late for me. (I know..but we get up at 4:30) is there a way to register but watch the sessions later? I would be interested in that for sure.
I am so amazed at what an amazing thing you are doing. Congratulations my friend.
Absolutely. During the live sessions, there’s also chat going on, so that’s the part that you’d miss. But, we also have the private forums, so you’d be able to ask any questions/comment there after you watch, too.
And thank you!
This is so great! WOW! Thanks so much for extending yourself in this way. We could all learn a thing or two (or three or four) from you!
I am signed up, and excited to learn from you!
I just registered and can’t wait to get started!
This is fantastic and I really want to do it. But the next 3 weeks I can’t because I am away. Is there anyway that I can learn about it after the fact? Will you be offering this class again? Please say yes!!!
