Homemade Fresh Fruit Ice Cream Recipe

One of my favorite treats on a hot day is ice cream.

Okay, I’ve been known to have ice cream for dinner in the heat of summer.

Cool, delicious, creamy.

But, school science experiments aside, I had never made homemade ice cream. It seemed like too much of a hassle. That there would be too many steps involved or that I’d need a special ice cream maker contraption. It turns out that’s not true at all.

This homemade ice cream recipe only takes about 10 minutes of work time and just 4 ingredients. One of those ingredients is the Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk I was sent coupons for. It’s been called “magic” since with it and just a few additional ingredients, you can make all sorts of different things.

Since I just picked up amazing fresh peaches from the Farmer’s Market last weekend, I decided to go with homemade peach ice cream, but you could use whatever fruit you have on hand. Any sort of berry would taste delicious, I think.

Homemade Fresh Fruit Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 14 oz can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 cup pureed fruit
  • 2 cups heavy cream

Directions

  • Combine sweetened condensed milk and vanilla in a large bowl.
  • Stir in pureed fruit.
  • Fold in 2 cups heavy cream.
  • Pour into 9 x 5-inch loaf pan or a 2-quart freezer container; cover.
  • Freeze 6 hours or until firm.

Super easy homemade ice cream. I think we’ll try banana next time and since this is so easy, I’m putting my boys on chef duty.

*I was sent coupons to try Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk. It’s been a staple around here for quite a while and I swear it makes all the difference in my Good-Enough-to-Earn-Honorary-Southerner Sweet Potato Casserole. Check out the Eagle Brand site for more recipes like Lemon Icebox Pie and Peaches & Cream Cake.
