Holiday Style and a $100 Country Outfitter Gift Card Giveaway

This is a sponsored post with Country Outfitter. One of you will win a $100 Country Outfitter giveaway, so don’t click away!

You know I will defend (pretty much to the death) my right to wear yoga pants every dang day. Enough with the yoga pants hate, y’all.

But, around the holidays, I do like to change things up and get fancy. Holiday parties give me the perfect excuse and yes, I need that excuse: I’d get funny looks if I wore sequins to school pick up.

And yes, sequins are my go-to when it comes to the holidays. I love that sparkle. I tend to rent my fancy dresses from Rent the Runway instead of buying them, which means I can get a new look for each party instead of recycling the same old look. This was at a Christmas party last year:

The only thing I didn’t love about this holiday look were my shoes. I’m not a high heel girl and when I try, it never ends well. What I really wanted to wear were my Ariat boots or actually, I wanted a new pair of Ariat boots with pink details so that they’d match my dress better (mine are more of a teal color). I should have realized the only one analyzing me that carefully would be me and worn my boots anyway.  Maybe I was just looking for an excuse for a new pair of boots. I’m loving these ones:

This year, we don’t have any fancy holiday parties to go to. Instead, we have some typical Southern get-togethers. Around here, that means lots of food, probably a pig pickin’ and an oyster roast. Most of the parties are outdoors and while it’s rare that it will get cold enough to snow here, it can still be chilly, so it’s important to stay warm. I’m loving these skinny boyfriend jeans and car coat from Target(clearance sale right now, y’all!), plus a long sleeve tee (or even two for extra warmth) and a brightly colored scarf.

Christmas look

My Ariat boots will work with this look, with thick wool socks to keep my feet warm. Though I also have a love for Ugg boots. I have the Ugg Women’s Classic Short Boot in black, but I adore these Women’s Classic Cardy Boot  in grey.

I LOVE boots … in fact bought two pairs just this week as a little pick me upper … and yes, I live in Florida … but that’s ok 😉

Also, next time you need a little dress, let me send you a few pics and will mail you one to wear on loan and you can put the money towards new boots instead

I think boots can be worn wherever- just maybe not in summer. 😉

Thanks girl- I just might do that!

I have those Uggs too and LOVE them. My go-to holiday outfit is usually boots, leggings, a big sweater, or something I can belt and a jacket. I LOVE those cowboy boots though!

    • Shell says

      November 26, 2013 at 10:34 am

Cowboy boots are such fun. Hard to beat Uggs for comfort, though!

My go-to holiday is the same as Erica’s. I dont go to any big fancy parties so I like to stay comfortable but still look cute. I fell in love with the boots at Country Outfitters for my sister’s “country vintage” themed wedding. They have so many great styles!

    • Shell says

      November 26, 2013 at 10:35 am

      Such a fun wedding theme!

  4. Marta says

I have the same shoe probably. I used to be all about the strappy heels and now I can’t wear them more than a few hours without my feet hurting. And my toms flats I wear everyday are just not formal appropriate!

    • Shell says

      November 26, 2013 at 10:35 am

When it’s warm enough, I only wear flip flops.

      • Marta says

        November 26, 2013 at 11:35 am

If I lived somewhere warm I would ONLY wear flip flops all the time.

  5. JD @ Honest Mom says

I need boots so badly! I need black booties and tall brown boots. Even my tall black boots are worn out. Here’s hoping I win! Thanks for the chance!

    • Shell says

      November 26, 2013 at 10:35 am

I do the same- wear my boots until they are worn out!

  6. Lela says

Little. Black. Dress. I’m the polar opposite of Shell’s variety! Call me lazy, just not to my face. Thanks for playing along with Country Outfitter this year!

    • Shell says

      November 26, 2013 at 10:36 am

I need to find a good LBD. I had one I loved, but that was waaaay back pre-kids and even surgery wouldn’t get me back into that thing.

  7. Chrishelle says

    November 26, 2013 at 10:50 am

It is chilly outside right now in GA. Sure could use some cold weather gear from Country Ounfitters. Entering the giveaway now. My daughter would love a pair of those boots.

  8. Astrid says

    November 26, 2013 at 10:51 am

I thhink I’d love such a Southern get-together. My style for the holidays is simply what it is all year – very casual. I only went to a holiday prom once and wore a nice velvet dress with no bling.

  15. Andrea says

Those are gorgeous. I SO want to try their boots but am terrified they won’t fit me!

  16. Casey says

I have been to a few rather formal occasions where women have paired cowgirl boots with fancy dresses, and I have always thought it was really cool that they expressed their personalities instead of complying with what they thought would be more socially acceptable. I know that some of my Facebook friends swear by Country Outfitters. I also love your idea of renting formalwear if you aren’t someone who attends a lot of formal functions.

  17. Kecia says

    November 26, 2013 at 6:35 pm

I never have fancy events to go to during the holidays, so my go to wardrobe is jeans and a nice top/sweater. This year, I’ll be sporting something decent in the maternity collection though!

  18. Krystyn @ Really, Are You Serious? says

    November 26, 2013 at 7:14 pm

Those boots are great. And, I’m wearing that same sweater right now…well, except it’s maternity! I really like the books with that look as well as with the gold dress.

  19. Janeane Davis says

I love boots but I haven’t been able to get into the Ugg thing yet. There is just something about them that I don’t like… maybe I’m just too old for them.

Hahah you should probably move to Vancouver if you are loving the yoga pants so much- I’m pretty sure we were voted worst dressed city in the world? country? continent? (don’t remember specifically) due to our extreme lack of wearing anything BUT yoga pants, hahaha. I think we got voted this twice, even…. Anyways. I love boots! And I won’t say no to any pairs that would like to join my closet 😉
