Here I Go Again Review

Ever wonder what happened to that ultimate mean girl from high school(or maybe junior high- junior high make me think of mean girls more than high school, but that might just be my own personal experience)?

lancasterIn “Here I Go Again” Jen Lancaster offers up Lissy Ryder- ultimate mean girl… but 20 years later at high school reunion time. And her life is a mess. (Hello, karma! Thanks for showing up!)

But thanks to a concocotion a former classmate(one she tortured, of course) gives her to drink, Lissy has the chance to go back to high school and change everything.  But being a mean girl at heart, it doesn’t come so easily at first.  And those changes aren’t all they are cracked up to be anyway.

There is enough early 90s nostalgia to keep me laughing since I remember those from my own high school days. “Mean Girls” and “Heathers” references kept me giggling as well. Lissy thinking she could actually make fetch happen. And I totally want some of Deva’s potion to go back in time and fix some things. Though I don’t want to go back to high school.

“Here I Go Again” is a cute and funny story. I would definitely read more from Jen Lancaster.

Join in the discussion about “Here I Go Again” on BlogHer(and other fun related topics like what sort of music takes you back to high school- it was all those alternative/grunge bands for me- I regret growing up in the age of flannel, especially with my teenage figure).

This is a paid review for BlogHer Book Club but all opinions and giggles over Regina George references are my own.

I’ve read a few of Jen Lancasters books mostly her memoir ones which are hysterical. I can’t wait to try this one out.

I LOVE books like this. I’m going to get this one for sure. I’d love a potion to go back to a time to right things but like you, not sure that would be high school.

As someone who occasionally stalks the mean girls from my past on Facebook (I admit it), this sounds right up my alley! But no, I’d never go back to those days.

I’ve added it to my list on goodreads.  And yea- I think I would only go back to high school if I could go back knowing all I do now

Now that’s an interesting idea. Though just the idea of it sounds exhausting. Going back to high school? It took me a decade to forget all that knowledge the first time, I’m not learning it again!
