At no cost to me, K’NEX sent me its Lincoln Logs® Redfield Ranch Set through its Toys “R” Us® Mom Blogger Promotion, and it is hoping that I might like it and write about it. All opinions are my own.
I haven’t started my holiday shopping yet, but my boys have started their wish lists and I’ve gotten so many requests from relatives, asking what my boys want for Christmas.
My boys are technology-loving kids. And while that can be a good thing, I also want them to spend some time doing things that don’t require a Wi-Fi connection or even batteries, so I’ll be sharing some of these ideas with you over the next few weeks.
Also: most of these gift ideas for boys could easily work for girls, too. But since I’m a mom to three boys, I tend to focus on what would work for them, starting with this classic:
The Lincoln Logs® Redfield Ranch set includes 124 real wood logs, plus colorful figures and other building accessories. It’s recommended for ages 3 and up, which meant my preschooler had a blast assembling this set.
There are easy-to-follow directions, plus these blocks can be assembled any way your child can imagine. What I like the most is the container they come in, which can be used for storage. Any time there’s an obvious clean-up solution, I’m a happy mama.
The only drawback I see to these is the warning that lets you know to play with these on an easy-to-clean surface as the color from the logs could come off. We didn’t notice any of this happening, but I didn’t notice that warning until after we were already working on our white-ish carpet. Just know that’s a possibility.
Suggested retail price is $39.99 for the Lincoln Logs® Redfield Ranch, available exclusively at Toys “R” Us.
I’ve thought about getting the Lincoln logs for my boys for the last couple of years, but the price has steered me a way a bit. Last year, we got them their own tool kits from Lowe’s which worked out nicely.
Oh, that’s a good idea!
Those look better to step on than those blasted leggos.
These aren’t as painful if you step on them. 😉
Malone got a set similar to that last year. It gets touched at least three times a week, which makes the price totally worth it!
That’s definitely a hit!
I LOVE Lincoln Logs! All of my kids love them. I used them to build cabins for my Barbies. 🙂
