I’ve noticed some differences lately between my Friends Who Blog (FWB) and my Non-Blogging Friends (NBF). Do you notice the same things?
NBF are surprised when someone they don’t know repins one of their pins on Pinterest. FWB want as many people as possible to repin their pins, especially when it’s something that is linked back to their own blog(Pin it, repin, pin, pin, pin!).
FWB share a blog post/video on facebook while it still only has a few comments/views. NBF share that same blog post/video two or three weeks later, after it’s gone viral.
And even though NBF shared that blog post, they don’t really get what a blog is or even that what they shared is a blog post(I still giggle over my mom emailing me a Scarymommy blog post) while FWB might have been the ones who wrote that post.
NBF have met all of their facebook friends IRL. FWB have more facebook friends that they met through blogging or blogging conferences or who they friend only because they have 187 shared friends.
FWB are on twitter. They probably use some sort of tool to manage twitter and be able to see multiple columns at once, like various lists and hashtag searches. NBF either aren’t on twitter or they have no idea what to do with it and mostly just follow celebrities.
NBF think instagram is just to make their pictures look prettier. FWB look at it as another social media network(it’s my favorite- are we following each other?)
FWB have the same or similar user names on all social media platforms. NBF can’t always remember their user names because they rarely log in or their user names contain some hard-to-remember letter and number combination that was suggested to them when the name they wanted was taken.
FWB understand that sometimes you end up putting a call out on twitter for a roommate at a blogging conference and might end up sharing a room or even a bed with someone you never met IRL before. NBF think you need mace for that or that maybe they should step in and stop you.
NBF don’t understand what a social media manager does while FWB might do it, too(they also understand when you talk about blogging campaigns.)
FWB get it when you utter “I have to blog this!” while NBF shake their heads and pretend they didn’t hear you say that.
