Walking into a room full of people I don’t know can be really nerve-wracking. I tend to psych myself out and imagine I’ll do something really embarrassing like trip and take down 20 other people in a domino effect, and land with my skirt up over my head so everyone sees my underwear.
I’ve never had anything quite that embarrassing happen to me, but I’m not the only one who worries about making a good first impression. Most people would prefer having sweat stains or toilet paper stuck on their foot over bad breath. The sweat stains, I could cover up or try to stay in darker lighting. The toilet paper could quickly be remedied, but bad breath (especially if I don’t realize it) could make people keep their distance.
More than 7 in 10 Americans consider bad breath to be a “deal breaker” in new relationships (76%), more so than spitting when talking (72%), chewing with an open mouth (62%), not offering to pay (59%) and texting in the middle of a meal (56%). Oh, wait, you aren’t supposed to text during a meal?
A recent national survey revealed the health of one’s mouth has a surprising and significant impact on how others perceive many aspects of one’s life – from opinions about success in romantic relationships and career, to assumptions about overall health and hygiene. You can see these results in the infographic below or to learn more about the LISTERINE® Brand survey, click here.
Many of the oral care issues that Americans experience can be prevented, and adding LISTERINE® as part of a twice-daily oral care routine can help ensure your mouth is always on your side. Brushing your teeth alone misses 75% of your mouth, leaving millions of germs behind. Left untreated, these germs can lead to oral care issues such as plaque and gingivitis. This is why it’s so important to rinse with a therapeutic mouthwash, like LISTERINE® Antiseptic.
Between now and December 1, 2015, if you use #LISTERINE either during the Twitter Party or in a blog post or other social media, that will trigger a $10 donation, up to $40,000, to support Oral Health America’s Fall for Smiles campaign to educate communities about the importance of proper oral care.
