Education Search Engine: Noodle.org

It’s so easy to do a search for any subject I want to know more about. Or to go to twitter or facebook and just ask.

The problem with that is that a general search can give me totally unrelated results or ones that I’m not sure are trustworthy. The same goes for asking on social media.

And while I don’t mind occasionally falling down that rabbit hole, there are times when I just want results that actually give me the info I’m looking for.

If what you are searching for is related to education, then the site to try is Noodle.org. It’s the only life-long education search engine that can follow your child all the way from kindergarten up through graduate school.

K-12 School Search

Whether you will be moving to a new area or if you are looking at different schools in your area, you can enter your zip code and set criteria for what you are looking for in a school and Noodle.org will show you schools near you. You can also compare different schools side by side.

Learning Materials Search

Another feature of Noodle.org allows you to search for learning materials. I narrowed down my search by age (4-8 for my boys) and then subject and found a video that taught my kids more about the different “th” words- something both of my older ones struggle with. You can set your own search parameters to get materials that would help your kids.

College Search

Trying to find the right college can seem overwhelming. I can still remember how I felt trying to make that decision- but of course, I had to rely on brochures that were sent in the mail to me, word of mouth, and outdated books from the library. But with Noodle.org, you can start a search using test scores, GPA, questions about what you’d like your college experience to be like, and what locations appeal to you.  Like the K-12 school search, you can compare schools side by side.

Other Educational Searches

With Noodle.org, you can also search for tutoring, guidance counselors, test prep, study abroad, and graduate schools.

I’ve been going to noodle.com for soup recipes. No wonder I couldn’t find anything.

I tried using it but the lack of data on the 1st and 2nd grades are not great.  I am able to use it to find a school and then I go to the school’s website to find better data or a site called http://www.schoolbook.org/.  Noodle seems to have a very nice site look and feel but more for a younger audience I think and not easy for someone my age to find what I am looking for.
