I love the lazy days of summer.
Funny how that expression doesn’t seem to translate to kids. They want to be on the go, all the time.
We have our big plans for the summer: special trips and activities we can mark off on our summer bucket list. But, not every day can be a “big” activity day. Our schedule wouldn’t allow for it and neither would our budget.
So, here’s a list of things the kids can do when they start thinking our summer days are a bit too lazy for their tastes. All activities are either free or will use supplies we already have:
- Race around the house
- Jump on the trampoline
- Have a squirt gun fight
- Create something with duct tape
- Make a snack for the family
- Make popsicles
- Play cornhole
- Go for a bike ride

- Play ring toss
- Run through the sprinkler
- Put on a magic show
- Spar with pool noodles
- Splash in puddles
- Blow bubbles
- Fly a kite
- Draw with sidewalk chalk
- Paint with sidewalk paint

- Explore with a magnifying glass
- Play soccer
- Have batting practice
- Shoot hoops
- Go geocaching
- Build with blocks
- Learn origami
- Build a fort
- Jump rope
- Have a dance party
- Play a board game
- Play a card game
- Read a book

In case you missed hearing about Capri Sun’s recent changes, you should know they replaced HFCS with sugar in its original line of Capri Sun Juice Drinks, and replaced sucralose with stevia and HFCS with sugar in its Roarin’ Waters Flavored Water Beverages. These changes take more than 25 billion calories out of the marketplace annually.
To enter to win the Capri Sun Summer Fun Kit, leave a comment letting me know what simple summer activity you suggest when your kids tell you they’re bored.
