I saw Delivery Man back in July. I have a confession to make: the reason I accepted the invite wasn’t because I was super thrilled to see this movie. It was more because I knew a lot of my friends would be there and it would be a two hour quiet reprieve in the middle of a busy blogging conference and my introverted self would take the excuse for a breather.
But then I watched the Delivery Man trailer, and I thought that it looked sort of cute, so it made me go into the movie with a bit more of an open mind instead of just thinking Vince Vaughn, 533 kids through a sperm donation gone wrong = silliest movie premise ever.
Y’all? I was so wrong with my initial impression. I adored Delivery Man.
It is funny and a little silly. But it also has an incredible amount of heart.
You know those movies that you fall in love with, the ones that you stop and watch every single time they come on tv, no matter how many times you’ve watched them? Delivery Man is going to be one of those movies for me.
It’s not a specifically holiday-themed movie, but it has the warm-fuzzy feeling of a Christmas movie. I even teared up at one or two parts. At a Vince Vaughn movie. Who knew?
Delivery Man would make for a perfect date movie. Maybe at the end of a long day of holiday shopping with your spouse: unless your kids are older, you’re probably not going to want to go into the explanation of how exactly “Starbuck” is the father of 533 children. It is rated PG-13, so I won’t be letting my 5, 7, and 8 year olds watch it(even if I did take my oldest to see Catching Fire this week).
What holiday movie are you most looking forward to seeing this year?
It’s movie season! Be sure to check out my Catching Fire review, too!
I can’t wait to see this movie! I’ve been out of town so I haven’t had a chance yet!
It’s super cute. Perfect holiday movie.
I definitely want to see the new Hunger Games movie! I think my husband would enjoy the Delivery Man movie. Vince Vaughn is usually pretty hilarious!
Catching Fire was amazing! I did a book to movie comparison because the bookworm in me insisted on it. 😉
We walked out of the theater and the 11 yr old asked .. should I ask what sperm is … sigh.
Ha! Yeah, I didn’t want to have that conversation with my kids.
I’m totally with you. When I first heard about the premise of the movie, I was like, nah, totally not for me. Then I saw the extended preview in the theater and thought it looks pretty good. I was bummed, I couldn’t make it to any of the screenings here!
It really is super cute! My husband wants to see it, so I’ll probably be heading to see it again!
The Delivery Man looks like a sweet holiday movie. I am a Vince Vaughn fan. I think this is a girls night flick.
Yay, I can’t wait to see this! It’s definitely going to be a date night movie for us.
I read an article about people who go to share and help others and how it could lead to people who are half-brother/sister getting married without knowing it. Sounds like an interesting movie.
I can’t wait to see the movie.
I’m interested in seeing it but not sure if I’ll see it in theaters or just wait until it’s available on Redbox. I admit I’m kind of cheap so spending $30+ to see a movie doesn’t sit well with me. I’m more of a “Honey, let’s buy a 6-pack, rent a movie, and pick up a frozen pizza tonight” kind of girl. Thankfully my husband enjoys those kinds of nights as well. LOL
It sounds like an intersting movie and i wonder how many situations are like this in real life.
We were fortunate enough to get to attend the red carpet premiere of this in L.A. recently and it totally blew me away. Such a heart-warming film and definitely something everyone should put on their list.
Delivery Man and Frozen are HIGH on my list. Also Catching Fire.
Oh how fun, I can’t wait to see this movie.. it’s been a long time coming! Thanks for sharing your feedback! 😉
I’ve always wondered if things like this movie REALLY happen in real life? I wouldn’t be surprised if it did! I don’t know if I will make it to the movie theater to see it, but I will see it!
This movie and Frozen! I’m a sucker for Vince Vaughn..
I haven’t seen this yet but everyone seems to like it!
The movie seems to be incredibly formulaic, but perhaps that’s why they cast Vince Vaughn – to give the humor a little edge and keep it interesting!
I saw a special screening in July and it was so good! Great Vince Vaughn humor but I did cry a couple of times too.
I cannot wait to see this movie. It looks so funny. I love all of Vince Vaughn’s movies
Alright, I will go see it. 🙂 I am glad to hear it was a fun as I’d hoped.
This movie looks pretty good! My sister-in-law and her husband are going to see it tonight, so I can’t wait to see what they say about it! 🙂
I’d take my 6yo to see this movie.
I underwent several years of fertility treatments, including ivf. She saw the pills and endles shots. We told her flat out that sometimes babies are made by the help of medicine and doctors. At first she thought each shot was a part of the baby being injected inside of me, but we eventually explained that mommy and dady each get a part of themselves ready, the doctor fixes it upn and then they put the baby in mommy’s tummy.
We didn’t lie about how the baby is born, breast feeding, or what the real names of private parts are either. We feel there is nothing shameful with our bodies, so why make it so?
