Christmas Gift Ideas: Fab 15 Holiday Toy List

When I was a little girl and it came time to make my Christmas list, it usually had something to do with whatever the hot doll or stuffed animal was for that year. Of course there were the Barbie years.

best christmas gifts

The year I got that Barbie Townhouse was so exciting, even if mine had a yellow elevator instead of the pink one that would come out later that year. Hrumph.

Barbies, Cabbage Patch Dolls, Strawberry Shortcake and pretty much any stuffed animal: that’s what I wanted. And the pinker the better.

I guess my obsession with Care Bears was so great that when they came back out when I was in my early 20s, my mom had to get me another one(and a cookbook because it stops being all about the fun once you’re not a kid any more, apparently). I wonder if I still have that Care-A-Lot somewhere…

christmas gift ideas

I have three little boys who definitely don’t share my love of all things pink(even if one did have to have his green Care Bear as his lovey every night for two years when he was a baby). So they have their own ideas of what makes for really awesome Christmas lists.

LEGO® sets are always on my boys’ wish lists, even though part of me wonders if they have enough, according them them, they can never have enough LEGO(probably how my mom felt about me and stuffed animals when I was their age).

I wanted that, too! I think the reason you can’t see my face in that pic is b/c I was looking at it like “What IS this???”

I don’t have children. I also got a strawberry shortcake, care bear and the barbie dream house when I was little! Blogging Twinsies! LOL

How could I forget about Rainbow Brite? I had some of those… I don’t remember what they’re called. They were like her little pets. They were fuzzy and had rainbow legs and star ears. I’m going to have to google. Sprites!

Lego is a no brainer in our house, but it’s Star Wars for Turbo and Superheros for Bruiser. They know who the sets belong to and what they want.
We are looking for other ideas too. Since it can’t be just Legos…

One year, for my oldest, it pretty much was all Lego. He was thrilled!

I still have my Care Bears, and my son has taken over them. (I need to find the ones my brother had.) We’re looking at trains, trains and more trains for Christmas!

I still remember my sister *needing* a Cabbage Patch doll . . . I want to say my parents bought a brand new washer & dryer because an appliance store was offering a CPD with any purchase over so much, and the washer & dryer were the next on the list to possibly be replaced.

My favorite Christmas tradition is quickly turning to Legos. CJ picks something out for me — we wake at my mom’s house, and there is a great big frenzy of gift giving. At some point, the four of us end up at our own house, and we exchange presents among ourselves, and CJ gives me the Lego set that he picked out.

Then we put it together, together.

I remember my mom stalking stores, trying to get Cabbage Patch dolls. She got mine but she also found ones for my cousins and our neighbors, too. Back before you could just order online. LOL

I’m not fast enough at putting together LEGO sets for my son’s taste. He prefers to do them alone.
