Capri Sun Mom Factor Listens to Moms

When I was growing up, my mom was a bit of a health nut.  She carefully looked at labels and I quickly learned what she was looking for and what it was that I wasn’t allowed to have. One of her rules was that we were only allowed to have 100% juice and never any juice drinks.

While I do look at nutrition labels for my kids, I’m not quite as strict as my mom was. For my boys’ lunches, I’ll only send in 100% juice for them. But when it comes to it being my turn to be the snack mom for soccer or when I’m stocking up for family outings or get-togethers,  I tend to go with what I know the kids will like and what is budget-friendly, which usually means buying cases of Capri Sun… both the 100% juice varieties and the juice drinks.

capri sun

Part of my Capri Sun stash.

If you’re looking for a juice drink, Capri Sun has no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, along with 25% less sugar than leading regular juice drinks.

Clearly labeled, but did you know this?

I never really gave it all that much thought before, but it does make a difference. A difference you can now literally see with Capri Sun’s new clear-bottom pouch. If you think about Fruit Punch drinks, for example, you probably visualize a bright red, guaranteed to stain your child’s face and clothes, color. But since Capri Sun doesn’t have any artificial colors, that’s not the case at all.

Capri Sun Fruit Punch Juice Drink

Starting this month, you’ll be able to buy the clear-bottom pouches of Capri Sun, whether you prefer the Juice Drinks, Roarin’ Waters, 100% juice, or the Super V Fruit and Vegetable juice drinks.

Capri Sun believes in listening to moms. It’s why they make a juice drink with no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives and their new pouch will show moms the difference between Capri Sun and other juice drinks.

The changes in Capri Sun over the years have come from listening to moms, like adding a 100% juice option(which makes my mom happy).  You can join Mom Factor, which is Capri Sun’s way of making sure moms get their voices heard. Moms get unique access to Capri Sun, including rewards and product sneak peeks. Be sure to like them on facebook, too.

What do you look for when buying drinks for your kids? Do they have a favorite?

I was invited to tour a Capri Sun factory this month. I was unable to make the trip due to all this crazy snow but I did get an opportunity to speak with Capri Sun representatives and was sent samples. All opinions are my own.

I LOVED Capri Sun’s when I was kid. What’s great about them is that while a lot of things that were good then don’t taste so good now, these don’t have that problem. I STILL stock them in my fridge for quick on the go drinking.

Hmmm – I never really thought about it before.  I have to say that I honestly don’t buy Capri Sun that often because it’s so hard to insert the straws in them.  I always end up poking the straw through both sides and getting juice everywhere.  Maybe it’s just me?

I am a total Capri Sun fan, too! 🙂 I actually feel like  they have improved so much over the years that I really don’t feel any guilt about providing them!-Ashley

I love that they added a 100% juice option too. The kids love juice, so why not give them the highest quality of it??? We like Capri Sun, they’re great for packed lunches.

I rarely buy juice. Growing up we almost never had juice in the house, so I’m not a big juice fan but my husband and son are. I’ll have to check out the new capri sun, I didn’t realize they were 100% juice.

I rarely give my son juice but when I do, I also make sure it is 100% juice and then I dilute it with water. I don’t like drinking my calories nor do I want my kids to. That being said, Capri Sun is one of the brands I buy when I do purchase it for playgroups, trips and outings.

Capri Suns were my go-to as a kid. Nice to see they are made with real juice.

My guys still like capri sun, so it doesn’t get outgrown quickly. The packs make it easy for the to carry around too.

My girls get a Capri Sun in their lunch box every day. I do love the new clear bottom they have started to put on the pouches!

I grew up with Capri Sun in my lunch 🙂 I love the sound of the fruit & vegetable juiceboxes!

I try to give my kids the 100% juice with less sugar and it is always Capri Suns. My personal favorite is Wild Cherry. I was pretty happy when they came out with the Roaring Water and less sugar ones.

My kids LOVE Capri Sun.  Since they can’t have any artificial coloring, they’re thrilled that Capri Suns still end up in their lunches!!! I’m so thankful that they don’t use artificial coloring!

My boys love Capri Sun. Me? I can’t get the straws in, I just cannot handle that level of difficulty. I only let them have 100% juice, so yay for 100% options!

  14. Lindsey @ Redhead Baby Mama says

    February 18, 2014 at 6:30 pm

That was a huge thing, even when I was a kid. Capri Sun had no dyes.  The pouches were metallic and the straws were colors.  We didn’t miss it one bit.

I remember my mom sending Capri Sun with us for lunch. I’m a little more strict with my son (100% juice, and I have to know all of the ingredients), but I would more than likely let him have this. 🙂

I do buy the roaring waters on occasion. its a treat- but that’s ok with me. I don’t mind it because they don’t add all the extra junk at capri sun 🙂

My son is so picky and won’t eat any fresh fruits and veggies, so he gets 100% juice 95% of the time. I didn’t realize they had started making Capri Suns with clear bottoms. That was a huge drawback for me, and why I hadn’t bought them previously for my kiddo. I may grab him a pack now!

  18. Janel says

    February 18, 2014 at 8:56 pm

I always buy their lower sugar variety. My kids didn’t notice the swap.

My son is 20 months old and probably had juice maybe 5 times in his life–at other people’s homes. I don’t think juice is necessary, and prefer to give my kids whole fruit.

My son has never tried Capri Sun but I sure used to love it. I am going to have to try it with him because I love that there are no artificial colors!

Love the new Capri see-through bottoms. Now if my girls would only not squeeze them before sipping we would be in business.

Luckily, my oldest only likes milk and water, but my little one LOVES juice and want it all day. We have to be really careful not to overjuice him. They both like Capri-Suns, and I actually did not know they were quite a bit healthier than other drinks. Thank you for the information!

I love that they made the bottom see through! That’s a great feature

I had no idea they didn’t use artificial colors- that makes me love them even more! Loving the clear bottom feature too, I have heard of some cases of people taking a sip & finding mold so that makes me feel better.

My daughter loved Capri Sun as a kid. Now that she’s a teenager, she still likes them! I personally always loved their lemonade flavor!

I alternated Capri Sun and chocolate milk for my kids in their lunches. My son usually needed two Capri Suns though or that large sized pouch they have.

  27. Jacqueline says

    February 19, 2014 at 3:28 pm

I still drink Capri Sun as an adult. They actuallystarted making the packages with a clear bottom because several of people got a big gulp of mold when there was an issue with them spoiling before the expiration date. It didn’toth me at all because I try and only drink drinks without perservatives, but that’s the real reason for the new packaging.

  28. Cara says

    February 19, 2014 at 4:20 pm

Now with the clear pouches I will start buying the kids Capri Sun again! I stopped buying them after the mold issue in the pouches (mold allergies) and now that I can see if there is an issue before giving the pouch to the kids, It will go back into my cart and on my shopping list! The Roarin Waters are great for the park, the beach and out and about!

We love capri Sun here! I try to buy the 100% juice ones, though I never noticed the regular ones weren’t that bad. Good to know!

I just noticed the new bottoms. Fabulous idea! I remember drinking these as a kid, and now that I know they are better for you than most “kid” juice drinks, I will definitely get these for my little one.

I love this change for Capri Sun 🙂  I’ve been drinking their juice pouches since I was in middle school and they’re something I feel comfortable – especially now – sharing with my preschooler, who loves them, too.
