Pretzels are my favorite treat to get when I’m out shopping at the mall. I absolutely cannot resist Auntie Anne’s pretzels. My addiction is made worse by the fact that my local mall does not have one and I can only taste that warm deliciousness if I go to the mall an hour away from my house. This is what happens when you live in the middle of nowhere.
So, having this box arrive on my doorstep had my mouth watering:
I wasn’t alone. My boys immediately started chanting “Pretzels! Pretzels! Pretzels!” I thought there was going to be a riot on my hands when I told them that it was a kit to make pretzels and even if they managed to grab the box out of my hands, they weren’t going to find pretzels inside.
Key ingredients in the kit are a yeast packet, special at-home baking Auntie Anne’s dough mix, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon sugar.
I’m often disappointed by baking/cooking kits because they never seem to taste as good as what you would get if you bought it fresh. But, I thought I’d give it a try.
In addition to making pretzels with their baking kits, there are a variety of other recipes that you can make. Monkey bread, pretzel stuffing, apple dumplings, and deep dish pizza. Mmmm, all sounded delicious!
I decided to make a dessert pizza. There was an option to either use all of the dough to make a thick crust or half for a thin crust. I went with a thin crust. The pizza I made had cream cheese and marshmallow fluff “sauce” and was topped with raspberries and blackberries. Absolutely heavenly!
My boys had a blast shaping their own pretzels. And yes, they are every bit as good as the ones you buy from Auntie Anne’s stores. No disappointment here!
